The Cinema South Festival is a joyous holiday, a special occasion, providing us a respite from our daily routines and infusing us with anticipation as to events to come: The cinematic stories we will surrender ourselves to while seated in the dark, which will form our entire world for that moment in time. It is the annual celebration that we anticipate and which we prepare for with our students from the Department of Film & TV at the Sapir College.
The Cinema South Festival is now in its 9th year. For us, it is more than a celebration, it is a piercing discussion via the films we procure from Israel and abroad and through which we seek to explore our life in this country, in this exposed and harsh southern region, on a quest to portray a contemporary mirror image.
